Phalaenopsis Orchid Wooden Mount

Customers are always complimenting our wall of mounted plants, we have over 25 mounted plants in our store, some of which we have had for more than 10 years.

Mounting is a type of planting where plants like Staghorn Ferns, Orchids, Hoyas and Philodendrons are attached to a natural surface (wood or cork) to mimic their tree-dwelling growth. These plants are epiphytes which absorb moisture from the air. We use mushroom board or barn wood for our mounts so they will not warp with repeated watering. We frame out the backs of the wood so there is less of a chance of mold.

Orchid colors are assorted and the wood that we use is a natural material which can vary in size and shape. You will select your specific mount from the plants that are available when you arrive. If you want a larger selection, we recommend that you try to pick up early. Selection is first come first serve.

Mounted plants require bright indirect light and watering roughly every 7-14 days.

It is easiest to remove the mount from the wall and place it in your sink or shower. You want to simulate a heavy rain.  Allow water to flow over the moss/plant for 15-20 minutes to ensure even and thorough saturation of the planting medium. The moss should be pliable and soft when you squeeze it.

The green moss is preserved and dyed for decorative purpose; it is not alive. Some color runoff is normal and should dissipate over time.

Kokedama Orchids are $75 each ($81 including Sales Tax)
