Mounting is a type of planting where plants like Staghorn Ferns, Orchids, Hoyas and Philodendrons are attached to a natural surface (wood or cork) to mimic their tree-dwelling growth. These plants are epiphytes which absorb moisture from the air. Cork Bark provides a rough texture and a grippy surface for the roots, and helps with airflow. Cork is also resistant to rot.
Orchid colors are assorted and the cork is a natural material which can vary in size and shape. You will select your specific mount from the plants that are available on arrival. If you want a larger selection, try to pick up early. Selection is first come first serve.
Mounted plants require bright indirect light and watering roughly every 7-14 days.
It is easiest to remove them from the wall and place them in your sink or shower. You want to simulate a heavy rain. Allow water to flow over the moss/plant for 15-20 minutes to ensure even and thorough saturation of the planting medium.
The green moss is preserved and dyed for decorative purpose; it is not alive. Some color runoff is normal and should dissipate over time.
Phalaenopsis Orchids on Bark cost $65 each ($70.20 including Sales Tax)
