Slab Pot Class with Vagabond Vintage Friday, November 9th 6:30pm

Agateware pottery is made by taking clays of different color and combining them in layers, and working the clay to create a stratified pattern reminiscent of agate stone.  This process is often done on the pottery wheel, which created a swirled pattern, but when made from stacked slabs of clay, it allows for a greater variation in the patterns and forms that can be created.  We will be rolling, stacking, and manipulating three clay bodies to create an agate slab.  Using soft slab construction techniques, we will loosely form the slab around a mold to form an expressive 4 inch flower pot.  After the workshop, I will take your pieces to my studio, fire them to 2200 degrees Fahrenheit, and return them to City Planter for pickup 2 weeks after the event.
